Young Women In Leadership Award
Award Description:
The Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award (formerly the Young Women in Public Affairs Award) recognizes and supports young women, ages 16-19, who demonstrate exemplary leadership skills and a strong commitment to public service/civic causes within their local area and beyond.

The Young Women in Leadership Award was established to encourage and empower young women to assume future leadership roles in their colleges and universities, careers, and communities and to become mentors for the young women following in their footsteps. The Zonta Club of Cheyenne will consider applications from young women associated with Laramie County, Wyoming. This includes either young women who graduated from Laramie County and are now studying elsewhere, or any young women currently residing and studying in Laramie County, Wyoming.
Zonta Club of Cheyenne Award Amount: 1 annual local award of $1,500
Zonta International Award Amount: 37 annual international awards of US $5,000.
Application Process for Young Women In Leadership Award
The application process must start with the Zonta Club of Cheyenne. All application materials must be received by the local deadline, March 15th, 2026. Zonta Club of Cheyenne will forward the application of the local award recipient to Zonta District 12 where a recipient will be chosen for one of the international awards.

Recent Recipients
2025 Loriana Walter
Loriana is the senior class president at East high school where she is in the top 10% of her class academically, she has participated in Girl’s State, National Honors Society, and has won Congressional Awards including bronze, silver and gold medals. She has lettered in cheer, dance, choir, student council, weightlifting, graduation team, and academics. In cheer, she earned her place as a Wyoming Allstate Cheerleader. Many of our former Girl Scouts will be happy to know that she has earned Girl Scouts silver and bronze awards and traveled internationally with the organization. Loriana somehow finds time for employment and works for Boots on the Ground Productions and at Ulta. In addition, she participates as a recreational leader for the City of Cheyenne and is also a Youth Development Professional for the Boys and Girls Club. You also may have seen her in the summer, riding as a CFD Dandy. Her letters of reference were exceptional and noted her great potential as a leader and that she was kind, warm and genuine. She plans to attend North Dakota State University and major in agricultural communications. She already plans to jump right into college organizations by joining Sigma Alpha, an agricultural sorority. She understands the challenges she will face entering a male dominated field, but we are positive that she will be a leader for all and pave the way for more exceptional women like herself.
2023 Caydence Eicholtz
Zonta Club of Cheyenne is proud to announce the recipient of the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, Caydence Eicholtz. To Caydence, the Zonta International YWPA Award is pride. Being selected for the award is a surreal experience for her, especially considering that the award will be used towards her goal of completing a degree in one of the hardest engineering majors. Being successful means the world to Caydence and her drive to support her community in her career as an Aerospace Engineer. She hopes to use the scholarship to succeed in her dream career moving forward and make an impact in the world around her. Caydence thanks the Zonta Club of Cheyenne for their consideration and support of her during her time pursuing her post-secondary studies.
2021 Kylie Schelhaas
Kylie Schelhaas is a senior at East High School. She is very involved in her school and community by being a part of Interact Club, band, FCA, FFA, SSA, 4-H, and 3 competitive shooting teams. She has also maintained a 4.0 GPA while being a part of these activities and working part-time. She is very honored to receive this scholarship and plans to use it toward her tuition at the University of Wyoming where she will study Zoology and Environmental Science.
2019 Gillian Rose Petsch
Gillian plans to attend Sheridan College in the fall of 2018 to receive her associates degree in agribusiness and communications. Then she will finish her degree at the University of Wyoming. Gillian is actively involved in Junior Leadership of Laramie County, Albin Livestock 4H , Fellow Christian Athletes , Future Business Leaders of America, Girl State (Which Gillian holds a leadership Position) Student Council, and FFA. Gillian Volunteers for Toys for Tots, Healing Waters and worked on numerous highway clean ups. Gillian Quoted; “My Grand solution to the fight is to keep doing the unexpected. The greatest movement in history is when someone did the unexpected like give up their seat and it sparks the nation’s interest.”
Women in Business Leadership Award
Award Description:
Women have made great strides in the pursuit of education, careers and leadership roles they were once denied. However, they still comprise a minority of leaders in the business world. Women hold nearly 34% of committee chairs in the S&P 500 and 31% of director seats, as of March 2023. Only 8.2% of S&P 500 company CEOs are women. The Zonta Women in Business Leadership Award celebrates excellence and recognizes outstanding
achievements by women between 18-35 years of age who are driving innovation and creating an
impact in the business world. This prestigious award honors exceptional leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, ethical conduct and significant contributions while addressing global or local issues affecting
women and girls or climate justice.
The Zonta Club of Cheyenne will consider applications from women associated with Laramie County, Wyoming. This includes women who graduated from Laramie County and are now studying elsewhere, or women currently residing in Laramie County, Wyoming. Note that applicants from geographic areas within a Zonta district where no clubs are located may apply via a Zonta e Club or
directly to the district to be eligible for the international awards.
How much is the WBLA Scholarship?
Zonta Club of Cheyenne Award Amount: 1 annual local award of $1,500
Zonta International Award Amount: 10 annual international award of US$10,000 each and a complimentary one-year supporting
membership in Zonta International for the next financial year.

Zonta Women in STEM Award
Award Description:
The Zonta Women in STEM Scholarship is intended to assist women between 18 and 35 years of
age aspiring to the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) who are still in the educational state of their professional development. These women exemplify the next generation of leaders in this important and diverse field of study. By recognizing and supporting these exceptional women, Zonta aims to inspire future generations and foster inclusivity and diversity in the world of STEM.
The applicant shall be pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Designated Degree Program List can be used to determine if your field of study is eligible: ice.gov/sites/default/files/documents/stem-list.pdf
The Zonta Club of Cheyenne will consider applications from young women associated with Laramie County, Wyoming. This includes either young women who graduated from Laramie County and are now studying elsewhere, or any Young Women currently residing and studying in Laramie County, Wyoming.
How Much is the Women in STEM Scholarship?
Zonta Club of Cheyenne Award Amount: 1 local award of $1,500- Given annually
Zonta International Award Amount: 6 international awards of US $10,000 each and a complimentary one-year supporting membership in Zonta International for the next financial year. These awards are awarded every other year starting in 2026.

Women in Aviation Award
Award Description:
This is a local award with no international component. The intent of this award it to assist young
women, aged 16-35 to complete their aviation licensing. To apply for the award the applicant must
have completed at least 1 solo flight and written exams, and be approved by the Zonta Club of Cheyenne Board.

LCCC Zonta Club of Cheyenne Scholarship
Award Description
It is the intent of the Zonta Club of Cheyenne to furnish financial Aid in the form of scholarships to students who are seeking additional education in order to improve their economic status. Mothers raising their children independently on a limited income are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants must attend LCCC on the main campus or Albany County Campus as full or part-time students. The recipient will be a non-traditional student over the age of 21 and a Wyoming resident.
There is a minimum grade point average of 2.0 to qualify. Financial need will be determined by the LCCC financial office. There is no international component of this award.
Zonta Club of Cheyenne Award Amount: 1 annual local award of $500-$2,000- Varies each year depending on interest earned from corpus of the endowment
